For interior designers considering home technology for the first time or those wanting to keep updated with the latest developments I recommend a visit to Homeplay
I recently visited the Homeplay experience centre in Sunbury-On-Thames to learn a bit more about home technology and it was well worth the visit.
Founder James Ratcliffe says, “It is unusual for a client to come here and not buy something” and I can see why. The showroom was designed by Hill House Interiors to recreate the feel of a residential apartment, there’s a dining area, lounge, bar and separate home cinema room. Each space incorporates a variety of lighting, shading, audio and visual options making it easy to experience the products and choose the right technology for your project.

As integrators, Homeplay tailor technological solutions, work closely with architects and interior designers and install. The company is not linked to one particular brand preferring to source from a variety of suppliers that they consider to be the best. And it’s a pleasure talking to James, because while he is very knowledgeable about the technology he also appreciates the final aesthetic an interior designer is working to achieve. In his first job he made furniture and as he says himself, “I enjoy hiding the tech.”
One of the main barriers to consumers opting for home technology is the maintenance. That’s why Homeplay offer full backup including servicing and on-call engineers seven days a week including Christmas day.

You can meet Homeplay at Decorex this year. Serengeti Living is their immersive experience that reveals what’s possible when lighting, invisible sound and seamless automation are integrated with design from the very beginning (Stand L20 Olympia, 12 to 15 October)
Homeplay is a member of CEDIA the trade association for smart home professionals and offers its own RIBA, BIID and SBID accredited lighting, shading and audio CPDs
Thanks for visiting Elspeth – it was a pleasure to show you around, glad you enjoyed it! See you at Decorex 🙂
