New showroom: RH London

RH London is a new, luxury home furnishings and hospitality destination in Mayfair

Formally the flagship store for Abercrombie & Fitch (do you remember all those pretty young things tumbling out onto the pavement and spritzing passers by with the signature scent?) 7 Burlington Gardens was originally built in 1721 for the Duke Queensbury, it later became the London residence for the Earl of Uxbridge before being purchased by The Bank of England in 1855

This Grade II listed, Palladian building has now been lovingly renovated – with gold-leaf ceilings, hand-blown Venetian glass chandeliers and a central glass elevator – to house the RH furniture, furnishing and lighting collection across five floors

The California based company already has one outlet in the UK, at Aynho Park in Oxfordshire, but this is their first London showroom. The collection is beautifully presented and it will take you a while to walk round it all, but there is an onsite dining room in the historic banking hall that has the feel of a private members club and a rooftop garden, designed by Anouska Hempel, for alfresco dining and cocktails so you wont lack refreshment

RH London

The extensive RH London collection itself includes solid oak and black walnut beds, dining sets and sideboards, voluptuous sofas in caramel suede and off-white linen and Italian travertine tables. There is even a floor dedicated to outdoor furniture. Definitely worth a visit, the RH collection is good looking and beautifully made and the location is stunning
