Bert & May open a showcase for British design and A Rum Fellow move to Notting Hill
Bert & May, the handcrafted tile specialist, has opened The Mix by Bert & May. This East London destination showcases a curated selection of British interiors brands including Armac Martin, Curiousa, Farrow & Ball, Ottoline, Pluck, Popham Design, Sophie Cooney Runners, The Water Monopoly, Thomas Crapper & Co, Whitebirk Sink Company and Kréte by Whitebirk – offering visitors a dynamic alternative to the traditional showroom.
Located in a characterful canal-side warehouse, the industrial space, with its exposed brickwork and Crittall-style windows, provides a striking backdrop for each partner’s space. Rooted in Vyner Street’s rich heritage of industry, art and creativity, the new hub celebrates this legacy by bringing together craftsmanship and inspiration under one roof, designed to inspire architects, interior designers, and retail customers alike (Explore Lee Thornley’s home, founder of Bert & May)

British design studio A Rum Fellow, known for its richly patterned, handcrafted rugs and textiles, has found a new home in the heart of Notting Hill. Founded by Caroline Lindsell and Dylan O’Shea, the studio brings a soulful, story-led approach to contemporary heritage design and the new space on Kensington Park Road is a calm, tactile setting layered with materials and colour.
Taking pride of place in the showroom is Lithics, their most recent award-winning rug collection. Inspired by Britain’s wild geological landscapes and Caroline’s childhood on the Cornish coast, the five designs evoke ancient stone, moorland textures and elemental terrain, realised through ethically handcrafted, bespoke rugs in Nepal and India
