Workspace in Stratford

Mirror Works, on Marshgate Lane, is the most recent outpost by Workspace, with interiors by commercial interior design studio Trifle*.

Trifle* has an on-going relationship with Workspace, creating a series of spaces which aim to provide a local feel by pulling on the history of the surrounding area. For Mirror Works, Trifle chose a bold palette and contemporary style to sit in the midst of this fast-evolving area of East London which has seen significant regenerative growth since the 2012 London Olympics.

On the ground floor cool blues set the mood with rich wine tones creating comfortable lounge zones, all accented by pops of yellow and green. Textural elements give depth to the scheme – from plush upholstery to acoustic panels – making it a very tactile and homely experience. There is also a café, reception desk and conference room.

The lighting sculpture and mirrored elements throughout the space all pay homage to the site’s history as a former Victorian glassworks factory, floor to ceiling windows maximise natural light and open plan terraces overlook the canal.

Workspace has created flexible office and workspaces for over 30 years, with 60 locations across London The brand is continuing to grow and employs design to further cater for different types of businesses with increasingly more flexible needs.

Trifle’s attention to detail includes bespoke 100% recycled worktops, carefully curated artworks from local artists, concrete walls and terrazzo floors to add to the modern feel and the use of colour to cleverly define the space. In addition there is an abundance of botanical plants and industrial lighting.

Emma Burrows, centre manager at Mirror Works. “We’re delighted to open the doors to Mirror Works, the newest member of our Workspace family. We’ve already seen fantastic demand for office space here, in what is now one of the most thriving parts of the capital. Mirror Works is truly a celebration of the amazing regenerative growth that the area has seen and we really look forward to welcoming some of London’s brightest businesses.”

The design of this new-age workspace ultimately encourages much-needed community and aims to actively entice teams and businesses together. A functional landscape for differing working needs has been created – from quiet to collaborative, plus comfortable areas for reading, relaxing and moments to switch off.
