New interior design books

This month there are two new interior design books worth taking a look at, one focusing on coastal homes and the other on quintessential English style

New English Interiors: At Home With Today’s Creatives by Elizabeth Metcalfe with photography by Dean Hearne. This book explores over 20 homes, some of which have never been published before. From small city flats to country cottages, this is a celebration of colour and pattern in its infinite variety. The interiors included belong to the likes of designers Cath Kidston, Edward Hall and Duncan Campbell plus artists Annie Morris and Idris Khan.

Elizabeth Metcalfe is features editor at House & Garden while Dean Hearne is an interior and portrait photographer whose clients include House & Garden, Vogue and Harrods.

Interior Style: Coastal by Jena Quinn & Lucy Derbyshire. Features expansive, sun-drenched spaces, unobstructed views to the outdoors and easy-going comfort. The book captures the spirit and escapism of seaside living. Illustrated with inspirational homes, Interior Style: Coastal traces the evolution of the aesthetic from the white villas of the Riviera to the Californian Look of the USA’s West Coast. With in-depth professional advice on how to use elements such as colour, texture and pattern to bring the tranquillity of coastal life into the home.

Studio QD founders, Jena Quinn and Lucy Derbyshire, collectively have decades of experience designing exclusive interiors for clientele around the globe. Their style fuses American scale and tailoring with a joyful English wit.
