Winner of the 2026 Rising Star Craft Award

Sanderson and QEST have announced a glass artist as this year’s Rising Star Craft Award winner

Sanderson, alongside the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST), is delighted to announce glass artist Lulu Harrison as the winner of the 2026 QEST Sanderson Rising Star Craft Award

Selected from six outstanding finalists, Harrison receives the £25,000 prize to support the development of her craft practice. Harrison is celebrated for her pioneering work in sustainable, geo-specific glassmaking. Combining ancient techniques with material science, she creates glass artefacts using natural waste materials, such as mussel shells and local wood ash, as conscious alternatives to traditional raw ingredients

Receiving the award, Lulu Harrison said, “This is going to make an unbelievable difference to the future of my craft.  With this funding I will be able to develop a bioregional glass studio in the heart of Cornwall, working with abundant waste and local materials, the surrounding landscape and nearby communities. It’s such an exciting opportunity to continue with my research and to invest in the infrastructure, equipment and knowledge to develop new glass recipes, processes and craft objects.”
