This week I visited the latest exhibitions at the Crafts Council and The Design Museum. Both are fascinating, both are political and both are really worth a look.
I am so excited about London Design Festival – actual, real events taking place across the capital later this month. Here are all the details of where to go and what to see.
Occasionally I highlight days out that I think you will enjoy. My latest suggestion is public art walk The Line in East London – a surprisingly lovely meander next to the River Lea with some thought provoking artworks thrown in.
Creative Folkestone Triennial is an exuberant exhibition of public artworks and it’s less than an hour from London. I was impressed, not only by the art, but the whole ethos of the project. If you fancy a day away from your design studio, hop on a train and head to the sea.
Last week, pink flags were once again flying in EC1 to mark Clerkenwell Unlocked. A timely reminder that design showrooms are open and ready for business
I am not a huge handbag fan. They are useful and I have a small selection suitable for different activities – work, holiday, evening – but I have never understood the desire for lavish, designer bags with ridiculously high price tags.
Fancy a day out? Jump in your car or hop on the train and head off for a lovely day in Rye. This picturesque little town boasts some really impressive interior design shops. So, whether you are shopping for yourself or sourcing pieces for a project it makes a fabulous day out.
This week non-essential shops are re-opening after lockdown. Hurrah! So I am taking this opportunity to launch the first in a series of My Favourite Showrooms.
I’m starting with bathroom showrooms as two stunning new venues opened recently. And, although I have only been given virtual tours so far, I hope this will give you a taste of what to expect when you venture out and about once more.
