The Decorex Sustainability Task Force has been launched, to encourage the Decorex community to become more sustainable
The Sustainability Task Force has been set up as a joint initiative with a group of exhibitors, designers and collaborators of Decorex, all with a shared purpose to achieve a more sustainable event.
Decorex event director Sam Fisher says, “We are committed to achieving a more sustainable Decorex and to be at the forefront of driving change in the industry. In the run up to the show we’ll be shining a light on eco-friendly brands that are exhibiting and pioneering the way to exhibit sustainably, encouraging all of our exhibitors to continue these practices year-round. We’ll also be keeping sustainability front and centre of people’s minds by hosting several discussions in our Talks Programme on this topic, led by industry experts.”
The Sustainability Task Force will be judging two exhibitor awards at the show, awarded for most sustainable stand and most sustainable exhibitor product.
The Decorex Sustainability Task Force Members are: Edward Bulmer, interior designer and founder of Edward Bulmer Natural Paint; Haines Collection, pioneering platform for the resale of unwanted textiles, wallpaper, lights and accessories; Holmes Bespoke, specialists in bespoke hand-crafted rugs, carpets and home accessories; Materialise Interiors, Brighton-based vegan-certified interior design studio; Naturalmat, manufacturer of organic mattresses and beds; Persona Abode, interior design studio; Soho Lighting, design and manufacturers of luxury lighting; Studio Suss, interior design studio.
Better stands initiative
Better Stands is Decorex owner Informa Markets’ campaign to reduce the waste that exhibitor stands can create. Reusable structures not only reduce waste, but they can reduce the time it takes to construct and take down stands and reduce the cost of construction.
To achieve this, a goal has been set to eliminate all disposable stands by 2024 and Decorex is actively engaging with exhibitors to make this happen. All Decorex exhibitors are encouraged to adopt reusable stands to not only significantly reduce waste, but to also help create a more sustainable event.
