How do you feel about the use of flame retardants in furniture? Originally introduced to provide fire safety in residential and domestic environments, there is increasing concern that the harm caused by the chemicals used to meet the open flame test outweighs the fire safety benefit.
The Government is currently in consultation ahead of new regulations. However, Interior Design Declares is concerned that their approach is flawed and is likely, in practice, to lead to the continued high use of toxic flame retardants.
