Who won at the SBID International Design Awards?

It’s time to put the kettle on, maybe even grab a biscuit, and then settle down to peruse the winners of this year’s SBID International Design Awards.

There were three main categories for the SBID International Design Awards 2021 – Interior Design, Product Design and Fit-Out. The winners were announced at a glittering lunch hosted by SBID (The Society of British and International Interior Design) at Nobu Hotel, Portman Square, London.

The international entries ranged from a luxury hotel in Budapest to striking office space in Dubai and a premier nightlife destination in Singapore.

However, the overall winner for interior design was awarded to London-based design studio Angel O’Donnell for this stunning 18th floor apartment in the City (shown above). Tasked with creating an interior that could echo the vibrancy of its riverside views, the studio designed much of the joinery and furniture themselves – everything from bouclé covered swivel chairs and jewel-toned sofas to upholstered walls and a bronze-clad fireplace.

As well as the interior design awards, there were several product categories covering bathrooms to flooring and lighting. RAK won the Bathroom category for its RAK-Valet collection while Lalique won the Residential Furniture award for its Cactus coffee table and Fameed Khalique won the Surfaces & Finishes category with a wood veneer wall covering.

Details of all the winners and finalists of the SBID International Design Awards, along with lots of lovely images, can be viewed on the SBID website. Prepare to lose yourself there for an hour or so.
