This is a nice little anecdote I picked up recently from Lincrusta and wanted to share.

The marketing team at Lincrusta recently discovered that founder Frederick Walton, an acquaintance of Picasso, also loved to paint. And, as they often refer to Lincrusta wallcoverings as a blank canvas for the creation of bespoke walls, they invited multi-media artist Jan Erika Design to paint a contemporary interpretation of one of Frederick’s landscapes onto a textured Lincrusta canvas.

The Georgian Panel wallcovering was chosen as the backdrop, its angular framework juxtaposing with the flowing nature of the large scale painting which featured as a fabulous backdrop to the TALK stage during London Design Week at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.

Lincrusta is a natural, embossed wallcovering made using linseed oil. It was created as an easy alternative to ornate plasterwork in 1877 and was an instant hit with the Victorians. It is supplied in its natural colour so you can create whatever finish your require. Find out more here
