The showrooms are closed but the Fired Earth brand survives

In October last year it was announced that Fired Earth had gone into administration with the immediate closure of all its showrooms. The brand has subsequently been acquired by Topps Tiles and its products will continue to be available from a network of partners across the UK

Fired Earth was founded by Nicholas Kneale in 1983 when he began selling authentic Spanish terracotta floor tiles from his Oxfordshire farm. The business grew to be a leading British retailer of handmade tiles, paint and bathrooms and was acquired by the AGA group in 2001 before hitting financial difficulties in 2025
