Let’s take a look at some of the gorgeous collections launched for A/W 2024. From charming block-printed wallpaper to rich wool tweed

Inchyra’s Somborne Collection for A/W 2024 (shown above) is a fusion between an 18th century French block print from Caroline Inchyra’s textile archive and a recently found antique woven design that Caroline immediately knew had potential. This collection includes an abundance of stripes, across linens and wallpapers, mixing well with the florals.

Omexco’s Cafe Society wallpapers capture the spirit of a bygone era with velvety weaves, chenille yarns and printed textiles in a range of subtle and intense hues.

Zoffany plain fabrics

From Zoffany, Luxury Plains is a considered range of textured plain fabrics including weaves, velvets and boucles sourced from all over the globe. The collection is available in Zoffany’s rich archival palette, and reflects the artisanal skills of its makers.

Pampas is the latest wallcovering collection from Arte, inspired by the vast, grassy plains of South America, which span part of Argentina, Uruguay and the southernmost tip of Brazil. The magnificent beauty of this rugged region was the starting point for this wallcovering collection, which includes different interpretations of woven plant fibres, each with their own unique characteristics and natural irregularities.

The new wallpaper collection at Hamilton Weston is a collaboration with artist Hugh Dunford-Wood. The collection features four designs Rousseau, Cardoon, Featherbed and Whistler’s Wood (above).  All have been block printed in the UK and each design is available in a quartet of colourways

Swiss textile house Fischbacher 1819 celebrates the 15th anniversary of its award-winning BENU® Recycled Collection with the launch of four new fabrics. Fischbacher was among the first textile producers to introduce decorative and upholstery fabrics using recycled PET plastic bottles. The four new fabrics include Benu Sand (above) a softly draping, dense curtain fabric in double-width, and Benu Sky a double-width sheer made of 100% recycled, flame-retardant polyester with a matte texture.

Johnstons of Elgin introduce Wool Tweed, comprising five designs woven using lambswool fibres in 3-ply yarns with each melange showcasing as many as 24 individual colours. Also new, Wool Felt (above) is tightly woven and felted before being piece-dyed to ensure a rich and even colour with a subtle sheen. The vibrant colour palette reflects shades found in nature. The charming Petits Fours collection, new from Madeaux, was inspired by delicate French pastries. Each fabric in this collection is a celebration of intricate design, luxurious textures and delicious colours reminiscent of a Parisian patisserie display. The collection includes five brand-new prints and a multi-coloured floral embroidery, together with three new colourings of Madeaux’s Audrey silk and linen stripe.

From The Fabric Collective, the Adventuras collection by Zoe Glencross is inspired by Zoe’s travels to Spain and Portugal. The designs amalgamate Moorish Mudéjar and Portuguese Azulejo patterning. Colour is central to the collection, embracing warm terracotta, pinky-beige tones, rich ochres, vibrant coastal blues and sharp, punchy apple greens.

During London Design Festival I had the opportunity to take a block printing class with Annika Reed, not as easy as it looks! My clumsy attempts highlighted just how skilled Annika is in creating her intricate hand carved designs. Her latest wallpaper collection, Parade, was inspired by the avant-garde ballet of the same name, featuring seven designs each with their own enchanting story.

Sanderson Country Woodland

From Sanderson, the Country Woodland collection (above) tells a tale of wooded walks. Drawing inspiration from nature’s rural paths, the collection includes a fern embroidery and charming allotment print.

The Metropolis collection, new from Lelievre Paris is inspired by an ideal vision of the city, where art, craftsmanship, industry and architecture meet to create harmonious spaces. The designs combine balance and proportion, like a new Bauhaus, with understated graphics and contrasting textures.

Vanessa Arbuthnot has launched her first new fabric collection in two years. Wild Garden is a celebration of the natural world and the power of rewilding. It features four designs and 24 colourways, depicting plants that give sustenance to bees and butterflies.

Inspired by Tricia Guild’s lifelong passion for ceramics, Pottery Studio from Designers Guild takes its cue from clay, porcelain, slips and glazes, exploring the simplest forms to the elaborate. Drawing inspiration from ground-breaking potters and ceramicists like Daisy Mekeig-Jones for Wedgewood and Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada and from a variety of disciplines emanating from Japan to Britain to the Majolica of Renaissance Italy.

Blithfield has faithfully reproduced on wallpaper and fabric, designs by the late Peggy Angus. Peggy was a visionary whose recognisable designs for tiles and wallpaper contributed to the aesthetic of post-war Britain. Her intricate, hand-blocked designs somehow manage to be both timeless and contemporary.

At Decorex, Iliv launched two new fabric ranges the Kashani print (above) and Azar woven collections.  Both are available on recycled cloth. Kashani depicts the elegance and vibrancy of Persian ceramics combined with the essence of the Arts & Crafts movement. While Azar is a modern take on th woven herringbone.

The Orangery Collection from James Hare embodies the essence of a serene botanical sanctuary, inspired by the elegance and tranquillity of classic orangeries. Delicate blossoms, lush greenery and dappled sunlight are reproduced in soft textures, intricate patterns and vibrant colours.

Harlequin has been working with designer and ceramicist Henry Holland to produce the Artisanal Attitude collection of textural fabrics and wallpapers. The collection explores Henry’s love of Nerikomi, the Japanese pottery technique, as well as reimagining designs form the Harlequin archive. A palette of rich chocolate, rose and matcha predominates.

Neisha Crossland has created the Desert Garden wallpaper collection exclusively for George Spencer Designs. Five striking designs explore big shapes in both neutral and vibrant colourways including powerful florals and bold geometrics.

From Kirkby Design, Picnic is a collection of recycled, outdoor weaves produced in collaboration with Swedish colourist Teklan, well known for her bold colour blocking. There are four designs in the collection in a vibrant palette of fresh lilac, zesty yellow, rich green and tangerine orange. The fabrics are all made from 100% recycled polypropylene sourced from pre-consumer waste. This fibre uses no water during production and has a 40% lower carbon footprint compared to virgin polypropylene yarn.

During Focus, Rubelli unveiled Kieffer Untitled II, continuing the journey that began with the brand’s renewal under Formafantasma’s creative direction in 2023. Consisting of 24 new fabrics, Untitled II expands Kieffer’s exploration of innovative materials, textures and colours. Sophisticated weaves in natural colours just ask to be touched.

Leading British interior designer Louise Bradley launched her first fabric collection at Decorex. The collection features 57 carefully selected fabrics including wools, cottons and velvets as well as organic flax linen certified free from synthetic fertilizers and herbicides. For the Fabric Collection, Louise has partnered with the Royal Parks Charity, making a donation from sales to help improve people’s quality of life and wellbeing.
