Charu Gandhi, founder of international interior design and architecture studio Elicyon, shares the three pivotal interior trends to consider in 2025
Charu has identified three trends shaping the homes of ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients in the year ahead. Moving beyond traditional notions of grandeur, today’s luxury homes are a reflection of individuality, eclecticism, and meticulous craftsmanship. Here, Charu shares insight into these emerging trends, illustrated by Elicyon’s latest projects.
Personal fulfilment with activity-specific rooms – In contrast to past trends where ostentation took centre stage, modern luxury has shifted towards a quieter, more private and personal satisfaction. “Our clients are prioritising spaces that resonate with their individuality and lifestyle over traditional symbols of wealth,” says Charu. This shift has seen Elicyon working closely with clients to create highly personalised spaces that cater to their unique interests and needs. Recent projects include tailored activity-specific rooms such as specialised gaming stations, home bar areas, cigar lounges and gift-wrapping rooms, each designed to offer personal fulfilment and reflect the owner’s passions.
Eclectic collections and artful integration – Within the frame of such intimate, bespoke and individual interiors, today’s UHNW clients are seeking a sophisticated, seamless integration of their eclectic collections. In response to this, we are moving beyond the traditional display of artworks and going deeper into the highly personal collections of the individuals themselves. “Many of our clients enjoy collecting unique items, ranging from vintage Louis Vuitton trunks and film memorabilia to rare watches, fine wines and vintage clothing. Rather than creating dedicated areas to display these pieces as stand alone collections, our clients are choosing to weave these treasures throughout the fabric of their homes in a more personalised and artful manner,” explains Charu.
Emphasis on materiality: the foundation of modern luxury – A heightened focus on materiality is a defining feature of the contemporary luxury homes that Charu and her team create. Elicyon’s projects place paramount importance on choices of materials, from flooring to the very smallest decorative elements. “Our clients are deeply interested in high-quality, unique materials that add both tactile and visual richness to their spaces,” notes Gandhi. This trend serves to emphasise the beauty of natural materials, bespoke finishes and craftsmanship, ensuring that each surface within the home contributes to an overall sense of luxury and refinement.
